The primary objective of this project was to generate knowledge on institutional, political and business incentives that shape corruption in Argentina, the interaction between formal and informal institutions in specific markets and areas, the cost of corruption to such markets and the mechanisms that may help to prompt actors into action for reform. The project focused on the following issues:
Led by the Association de la Construction du Québec (ACQ), this initiative is designed to help construction companies in Quebec to demonstrate their ethical business practices and integrity, while being part of an anti-corruption Collective Action initiative.
The Integrity Program was developed taking into account existing models of Collective Action around the world, the specificities of ACQ member construction companies and, finally, the opinions expressed by contractors and the public.
Alliance for Integrity
The Alliance for Integrity is a business-driven, multi-stakeholder initiative seeking to promote transparency and integrity in the private sector. To achieve this goal, it fosters collective action of all relevant actors from the private sector, the public sector and civil society.
The Alliance for Integrity is a platform that offers practical solutions to strengthen the compliance capacities of companies and their supply chains. In addition, the initiative contributes to the improvement of framework conditions by fostering dialogue between the public and private sectors.
Basel Art Trade Guidelines
The Basel Art Trade Guidelines seek to support the art market in its efficient and fair functioning. They aim to provide practical guidance for the sale of art objects. The Guidelines seek to establish, through a self-regulatory mechanism, the provenance of an art object and the provenance of the funds used in the purchase of the object.
International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Commission on Corporate Responsibility and Anti-Corruption
The ICC Commission on Corporate Responsibility and Anti-corruption is a leading global private sector body that develops policy recommendations and practical tools on corporate responsibility and fighting corruption.
The Commission brings together over 250 members from 40 countries, representing multinationals, banks, law firms, trade associations and SMEs. Members actively shape policy work through an exchange of experience and know-how to develop a “one-stop-shop” for businesses of all sizes looking to strengthen their CSR performance.
This initiative brings together in-house lawyers from Argentina and seeks to promote integrity, transparency and compliance with the rule of law in the legal professions.
Promoting Collective Action in Egypt
This initiative aimed to develop anti-corruption policies and procedures for companies, with special emphasis on SMEs. It also focused on identifying corruption and enhancing transparency and integrity in business to government (B2G) transactions, mainly in government procurement.
The approach taken by this initiative was to combine the actions SMEs should do to tackle corruption in their operations with the reasons why they should put their energies behind a commitment to fight corruption. This was addressed in two work streams:
Medicines Transparency Alliance (MeTA)
This initiative aims to increase access to essential medicines for people in developing countries, by increasing transparency and accountability in medicines procurement and supply chains to tackle inefficiency, corruption and fraud.
The Business Ethics Initiative seeks to promote anti-corruption and ethical business principles in Indonesia. Between 1999 and 2012, the Initiative:
- conducted 44 workshops on "Managing Ethical Dilemma for Facilitating Payment" and "Building Collective Action for Anti-Corruption";
- conducted 11 workshops on “Developing Business Codes of Conduct for SMEs” in 7 provinces with almost 400 SMEs;
- issued Guidelines for SMEs to develop Business Codes of Conduct (CoC);
- published four books on Business Ethics and CoC issues.
