From 1 - 4 December 2016 you will find the Basel Institute on Governance at the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) in Panama City. The IACC is the world’s premier global forum for bringing together heads of state, civil society, the private sector and more to tackle the increasingly sophisticated challenges posed by corruption.

The Basel Institute on Governance and its International Centre for Collective Action (ICCA) hosted for the second time an international conference on anti-corruption Collective Action, entitled Collective Action: Evidence, Experience and Impact on October 20-21 2016 in Basel.

From 16 to 18 January 2017, more than 400 financial investigators from money laundering, cybercrime and financial intelligence units met with experts in asset recovery and relevant private sector representatives at the Global conference on countering money laundering and digital currencies in Doha, Qatar. The event was organised by the Working Group on Virtual Currencies, a joint initiative of the Basel Institute on Governance, Europol and Interpol, and funded by the authorities of Qatar.

For the first time, the Basel Institute on Governance, in partnership with C5, is inviting the Swiss anti-corruption and compliance community to discuss cutting-edge risk mitigation strategies at the Anti-Corruption Switzerland Conference in Zurich from 28 February to 1 March 2017. 

This premier anti-corruption and regulatory compliance event has been developed by leading industry professionals and aims at providing all attendees with the best platform for networking as well as sharing and discussing new strategies in the field of anti-corruption and compliance.

The British Academy is hosting an all-day event on Monday, 27 February for the Anti-Corruption Evidence (ACE) scheme, which is run in partnership with the Department for International Development (DfID). All eight ACE award winners are coming together at mid-point of their projects to present and discuss their progress thus far.

From 30 to 31 March 2017, the OECD invites pioneers from a variety of backgrounds and academic disciplines to share their latest evidence and findings in corruption at the Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum in Paris. Researchers from the Basel Institute will be present to discuss their findings on new approaches to anti-corruption. 

On Wednesday, 19 April 2017 the Basel Institute in cooperation with Norton Rose Fulbright hosted an insightful discussion as to how to develop a successful anti-corruption Collective Action with peer companies or other stakeholders and how Collective Action can invigorate anti-corruption programmes in markets with systemic corruption.  

On May 3rd, 2017, the B20 officially handed over its Policy Recommendations to German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. The anti-corruption recommendations include calls to establish beneficial ownership transparency, as well as to recognise corporate compliance efforts, as the Chair Klaus Moosmayer said "combatting corruption must be a joint effort that addresses both the supply and the demand sides of corruption.”

On 28 June 2017, Gemma Aiolfi, Head of Corporate Governance, Compliance and Collective Action at the Basel Institute, will take part in a panel discussion during the ECAS 2017 Business and Development Forum “Moving with Africa” at the University of Basel. 

On 21 June 2017, the Basel Institute will participate in an event during the 35th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva on innovative approaches to the implementation of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
