ICAR attended the 19th Plenary of the Egmont Group on 11-15 July 2011 in Yerevan, Armenia.

In cooperation with the Operational and the IT Working Groups, ICAR gave presentations on the Asset Recovery Intelligence System (ARIS) which is already successfully deployed in a number of FIUs.

In addition ICAR, jointly with the Operational Working Group organised a workshop on combatting corruption and recovering stolen assets. The workshop has launched a long term project to identify and explore the role of the FIU in these areas.

The International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR) and Transparency International jointly and with the support from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs organised a workshop for Civil Society Organisations (CSO) on the topic of Asset Recovery in the MENA region. The workshop was attended by some 30 representatives from 13 CSOs from the MENA region and concerned financial centres.

Federico Paesano, Senior Financial Investigations Specialist at the International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR) participated in the 5th Annual General Meeting of the Global Focal Points Network in Vienna during 9-10 October 2014. The event was organised by the World Bank and UNODC’s Stolen Assets Recovery Initiative (StAR) and Interpol.

He was invited to participate, together with three other experts, on a panel covering the topic “Recovering of Assets in the Cyber Era.”

TRACE named the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), a global business network of companies and associations involved in the maritime industry, the winner of its second annual Innovation in Anti-Bribery Compliance Award. The MACN was recognized for its efforts to create an industry-wide compliance culture through collective action.

In early December 2014, at the invitation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Center of Asset Recovery (ICAR), along with other key organisations including ARINSA, CARIN and INTERPOL, co-hosted a conference on the recovery of proceeds from wildlife and forest crimes held in Panama City, Panama. 

Phyllis Atkinson, Head of Training at the International Centre for Asset Recovery gave a presentation entitled “Global Challenges in Following the Money” on 9 October 2015 at an event hosted by the Institute for Commercial Forensic Practitioners (ICFP) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

From 14 to 18 September 2015, the International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR) of the Basel Institute participated in the 13th Interpol Global Programme on Anti-Corruption, Financial Crimes and Asset Recovery in Dakar, Senegal, coordinated by Interpol's Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes Unit in partnership with the US Department of Justice Criminal Division and the Anti-Corruption of Senegal (OFNAC). The five-day workshop brought together some 34 participants from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo.
