Basel Institute and UN Global Compact sign Memorandum of Understanding
In recognition of the Basel Institute on Governance having received the mandate from the B20 Task Force on Anti-Corruption and Transparency in June 2013 to host the B20 Collective Action Hub, working along with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), further reinforcing their collaboration in this endeavour.
Working in a spirit of cooperation and acknowledging the strengths and expertise of both parties, the MoU provides the framework whereby the two organisations will work to ensure that the B20 Collective Action Hub becomes a centre of excellence in the area of anti-corruption Collective Action.
In June 2013, the B20 Task Force on Anti-Corruption and Transparency gave the establishment of the Hub to the Basel Institute, working with the UN Global Compact.
n fulfilment of the 2012 B20 Recommendations, whereby the Hub’s mission is to identify and analyse Collective Action initiatives and serve as a centre of excellence for utilising Collective Action strategies, the Institute has implemented this programme through its International Centre for Collective Action (ICCA). Following months of preliminary design and research, the B20 Collective Action Hub has been publicly available since February 2014, marking a significant development in international efforts to combat corruption. It offers tools for business to take concrete steps to jointly step up against corruption and strengthen good business practice, and currently profiles nearly 50 examples of Collective Action initiatives from around the globe.
