Presentation of 11 Public Finance Management evaluations for Peruvian regions and provinces.

The results of Public Expenditure and Accountability evaluations for 11 Peruvian regions and provinces were presented at the event "Gestión de las Finanzas Públicas. Evidencia internacional, nacional y subnacional" (Public Finance Management. Evidence at the international, national and sub-national levels), organised by the Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland (SECO) and the Basel Institute of Governance.

Evaluations are available (in Spanish) for the regions of Apurímac, Cusco, Lambayeque, La Libertad, San Martín and Piura, for the province of Abancay and for the municipalities of Cusco, Chiclayo, Trujillo and San Martín. Data collection took place in the last quarter of 2016 and mainly assessed performance during the years 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The evaluation methodology takes into account seven pillars of Public Finance Management, spanning 31 indicators in total. Each indicator contains one or more dimensions which measure Public Finance Management practices in a more specific way, making a total of 94 dimensions.

The evaluations were carried in the context of the Subnational Public Finance Management Strengthening Programme in Peru, funded by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland (SECO) and implemented by the Basel Institute on Governance through its Peru office.
