ICAR welcomes ICC report on "Cooperation challenges faced by the Court with respect to financial investigations"
The report summarises findings from a series of events organised in 2015 by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in cooperation with the Principality of Liechtenstein and the Basel Institute's ICAR. It focuses on challenges of the Court with respect to financial investigation and international cooperation.
The events identified the considerable practical relevance of financial investigation and related international cooperation for the Court with a view to further enhancing its effectiveness in investigating Rome Statute crimes, while acknowledging a range of challenge faced by both the Court and State Parties in both areas.
The report also suggests a number of practical steps that the Court, State Parties, or the Court and State Parties together, could undertake to overcome some of these challenges. ICAR is committed to continue supporting the ICC in these efforts.
