Tackling crime convergence: The Amazon challenge

The Amazon is facing an urgent and complex crisis where environmental crimes like illegal logging, wildlife trafficking and the drug trade are increasingly intertwined, driven by corruption and impunity.

At the 7th plenary session of the Countering Environmental Corruption Practitioners Forum, we will discuss how multiple criminal economies converge in the Amazon and how corruption enables these networks.

  2. Law enforcement and prosecution, facilitated by Walter Delgado and Amanda Cabrejo le Roux (Basel Institute)
  3. Border regions and local monitoring, facilitated by Bram Ebus (Amazon Underworld) and Karen Noboa (TRAFFIC)
