Stefani Butilova joined the Basel Institute in April 2023 and is currently Programme Assistant for our Bulgaria programme.

Stefani holds a Bachelor's in Politics and International Relations from the University of Essex in the UK. Her dissertation on Anti-Corruption Practices in European Member States focused on the anti-corruption efforts of Bulgaria and Romania.

Based in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, Stefani volunteers in a local non-governmental organisation which seeks to improve the urban environment and the city's management.
