Congratulations to our Vice-President Anne Peters, who has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Lausanne – Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration.

The awarding of the honorary title recognises her deep and wide-ranging contribution to public international law, covering history, global animal law, global governance and global constitutionalism, as well as the status of humans in international law. Anne Peters is Director of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, among many other roles and responsibilities. She has been Vice-President of the Foundation Board of the Basel Institute on Governance since 2003. Conferring the honorary doctorate, the University of Lausanne offered this praise (unofficial English translation):

To the brilliant internationalist who conducts essential and innovative thinking on global governance, to the eminent constitutionalist whose thinking is grounded in a global perspective, and to the humanist who promotes the status of the individual in international law, while at the same time working towards the establishment of global animal rights.
