As the world urgently seeks solutions to combat climate change, the integrity of these efforts is increasingly under scrutiny.

Corruption and integrity risks pose significant threats to the effectiveness and fairness of climate solutions, from policy formulation to the implementation of green technologies. These risks can manifest in various forms, including the misallocation of funds, manipulation of emissions data, and favouritism in awarding green contracts.

Addressing these risks is crucial to ensuring that climate actions are both effective and equitable.

In this meeting of the Countering Environmental Corruption Practitioners Forum, the Climate Finance Working Group will bring together experts to discuss the current state of play, insights from recent research and concrete cases from the Climate & Corruption Case Atlas.

The discussion will be moderated by Bayartsetseg Jigmiddash, Outreach and Engagement Manager at the Green Climate Fund.

Speakers:

  • Sanjeev Narrainen, Integrity and Compliance Manager at Green Climate Fund,
  • Sindi Kuci, Research Assistant at LSE Grantham Research Institute,
  • Dieter Zinnbauer, Research Fellow at Copenhagen Business School,
  • Michael Nest, independent Researcher.

The meeting will be held in English on Zoom. It is open to current members of the Countering Environmental Corruption Practitioners Forum and its Climate Finance Working Group, as well as those potentially interested in joining.

  • Date and time: 11 September, 15:00 CEST, 09:00 EST, 21:00 SGT
