A hands-on workshop for practitioners across Africa on cryptoasset investigation, seizure, management and recovery.
This in-person workshop on 17 September 2026 will bring together practitioners and experts to exchange knowledge on real cases, practical tools and common challenges related to cryptoassets and asset recovery in Africa.
The workshop is a joint initiative of the Basel Institute on Governance and the SecFin Africa programme. It is hosted by Luxembourg’s Bureau de gestion des avoirs as a side event to the 10th Global Conference on Criminal Finances and Cryptoassets.
The workshop will combine practitioner presentations and discussion on:
- recent crypto-related cases and operational experiences from across Africa
- practical challenges in tracing, seizing, managing and recovering cryptoassets
- international and cross-border cooperation
- free and accessible tools for blockchain investigations
- obtaining information from cryptoasset service providers
- opportunities for stronger regional cooperation and peer exchange
There is no public registration for the event.
The SecFin Africa programme, co-financed by the European Union, is funding the participation of several practitioners from across Sub-Saharan Africa in both the 10th Global Conference and this workshop.
The Africa Crypto & Asset Recovery Network is a regional initiative led by the Basel Institute on Governance through its International Centre for Asset Recovery. This practitioner-led community benefits from funding from Kodex, Asset Reality, tradias, VerifyVASP, Coinbase, TRM Labs and CAT Labs.
