CIPE developed this initiative in collaboration with the Yerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (YerCCI), the Armenian Lawyers Association (ALA), and the Corporate Governance Center (CGC). The one-page declaration outlines key commitments to ethical, legal and transparent business practices, including the support for a nationwide initiative intended to create fair market conditions, promote transparency in business transactions, and ensure good corporate governance in Armenia.
CGC, ALA, and YerCCI shared the declaration with their members and networks, and as a result 59 companies signed on to publicly signal their commitments. The initial purpose of this emerging private sector anti-corruption coalition is to build support for anti-corruption reforms among public and private sector representatives.
The signing of the declaration was preceded by the work that CIPE and its partners conducted in 2018 and 2019 to improve understanding of and strengthen support for anti-corruption compliance standards within the Armenian business community. Almost 250 representatives from 177 Armenian companies of all sizes participated in 18 anti-corruption workshops delivered in Yerevan and other eight regions under the project.
